Yew Tree Alpacas have three walks on Fridays and Saturdays most weeks from April-September. If you are looking for something new and different, a break away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, now is the time to book a walk with Yew Tree Alpacas.

The Alpaca Walk Experience…  includes a 25-30 minute walk around picturesque fields and parkland in East Herts. This is the easier of the two walks and is ideal if you are a little nervous or have no experience with animals or are worried about the speed you walk. Note if you have a walking stick or limited mobility this walk is not suitable. Please go to our alpaca adventure which is likely to suit you better. Your Alpaca walk doesn’t end after the walk you go back to base for either lunch, coffee & cakes or homemade cream tea and cakes.

Spending time with the friendly alpaca boys involves not only walking with them but learning about alpaca the animal, feeding and of course lots of photo opportunities! But that’s not all -you conclude your wonderful experience with lunch or homemade cream tea, not forgetting a browse in the Yew Tree alpaca shop.

Choose to share your alpaca with a friend or walk one to one. There’s a choice of two lovely walks, a longer countryside walk of around an hour or a shorter option of 25 minutes around fields and parkland. The whole experience is either 2½ or 3½ hours depending on which you choose.

The shorter walk ( experience) has been a really good activity during the summer holidays as it suits children better. The detailed programme for all walks can be found online

What better way to spend time with friends or family in the lovely Herts countryside, getting to know alpacas and getting some exercise into the bargain!

“I just wanted to say a big thank you for this morning, my son had a brilliant time, we all enjoyed it. Your alpacas are lovely animals all with their own characters! I can see why you keep them. I’m sure we will be back at some point.” Lisa, Welwyn

“My wife and I had a fantastic afternoon and Scrunchie was wonderful. We will definitely be recommending you to all our friends. Best of luck for the future” SS, Stevenage

“Hi Penny & Steven, just a quick note to say thank you both for a truly enjoyable afternoon we both had with you both, all the alpacas and of course Isaacs. I have wanted a walk with them for years and it was well worth waiting for. We very much want to come again so keeping my fingers crossed.” Maggi, Hitchin

If you’d prefer not to walk just meet and feed and learn all about alpacas why not book an Alpaca Adventure: Alpaca Adventures –  in addition to the walks a small number of adventures are organised during the year these are particularly popular during the summer holidays. The adventure typically lasts around 2.5 hrs hours and gives you a chance to get to know more about alpacas and get to meet and feed the real thing!

The visit includes a talk all about alpacas, seeing the raw alpaca fleeces and the lovely soft yarns made from them.  You then visit and feed two groups of our alpacas – get a chance to feed them and get up close and friendly with lots of photo opportunities. Note alpaca walking is not included in this event.

The adventure afternoon completes with a lovely homemade tea with freshly made sandwiches and homemade cakes.  This event is suitable for people with limited mobility and wheelchair users. Note however that the ground is uneven and care must be taken when walking in the fields. (Please note the minimum age for children attending an alpaca adventure is 6 years old).
