Indian Classical Dance and Music
Everyone is invited to an Indian classical dance and music event in Royston.
The event takes place at King James Academy auditorium on Sunday 15th October at 4.30pm
Organiser Ragini Madan is an Indian classical dancer (Kathak), and you may have seen her when she performed Kathak at Royston Arts Festival last year.
Ragini Madan has trained in ‘Kathak’ under Shovana Narayan ji for over 12 years. Her style of presentation consists of a harmonious blend of Lucknow and Jaipur gharanas. She has been part of most of her guru’s dance productions and has accompanied her to various festivals in India and USA in the late 1990s. While in the UK for the past 16 years, she has performed in solo, duet and group compositions in various cities in the UK. She has also choreographed few group works in the UK with dancers of other Indian classical styles. Her constant interaction with students of dance, from India and elsewhere, attending workshops of different artists has contributed to her growth as a dancer. In London, she has also learnt intricate Kathak techniques from Mukti Shri, a disciple of Shrimati Shama Bhate for few years.
Kathak has become an integral part of Ragini, a medium to express her thoughts, views, ideas and understanding of her surroundings. Her passion for this art form has deeply influenced her life.
Tickets are £10 (£8 concessions), available from Ragini on raginimadan18@gmail.com or 07827 297 157
