News from Royston Library: October Events 
October will be a busy month at Royston Library, starting with activities and events during Libraries Week, 2nd – 10th October.
On Tuesday 3rd October at 11am children’s author Bec Barnes will be presenting a story time based around her book My Rhino is Better Than Yours! This will be followed by a colouring session. Suitable for 3 – 5 year olds. FREE but donations are welcomed.
We see the return of Code Club later that day, 4.15 – 5.15pm. This is also a FREE activity, running on Tuesdays across a 6 week period. Children must be 9 – 13yrs old. Booking is essential at coding@hertfordshire.gov.uk
There will be a family learning session on Saturday 7th October 2.15 – 3.15pm. Our Junk Robot Workshop invites families to learn about recycling and create robots out of packets, boxes, pots and bottles. Tickets are available from the library, £3 per child and accompanying adults free. Suitable for 5 – 11 yrs old.
During half-term we will be running our popular Cubetto session. On Tuesday 24th October at 2.30pm with an Under the Sea theme, adults and children create a coding adventure together. Tickets are available from the library, £3 per child.
Following the success of the Detective Dog, on Friday 27th October at 3.30pm we will be welcoming another professional theatre performance, The Great Big Dinosaur Show with Mole and Gecko. Join poet Simon Mole and musician Gecko for a family show full of poems, raps and songs about all your favourite prehistoric protagonists (and some you haven’t heard of yet!). Expect some spine-tinglingly funny scares and get your groove on to some Jurassic Classics! The show is inspired by Simon Mole’s 4th book; A First Book of Dinosaurs, published by Walker in September 2023.
