Out & About: Thriplow Daffodil Weekend CANCELLED

UNFORTUNATELY DUE TO THE RISK OF COVID-19 TRANSMISSION, ORGANISERS HAVE TAKEN THE DECISION TO CANCEL THIS YEARS THRIPLOW DAFFODIL WEEKEND. FOR MORE INFORMATION, PLEASE VISIT THEIR WEBSITE.

Join us for two days of fun activities for all the family with Family Thriplow, Gun Dogs & Fun Dogs and Vintage Thriplow, or amble through over 100 stalls to find that something special.

Check out the stunning flower displays in the Church and the blacksmiths at work in the Smithy and be entertained by the merry Morris dancers. Then recharge at Taste of Thriplow for street food and a beer or enjoy hot drinks and homemade cake at our Village Tearooms. With live music being played all around the village it’s the perfect place to get some springtime cheer.

For months beforehand and over the weekend itself, virtually everyone in the village (and many neighbouring villagers) volunteer to help organise the event – be it baking cakes, helping serve teas, working in the car park or picking up litter at the end of the day.

Every year, the exceptional Thriplow community works hard to pull off o

ne of the best loved charity events in Cambridgeshire.

Raising funds for charity
We have now raised money for local charities to a total of £617,000 over 52 years. The tireless work of the village was recognised in 2011 when the Committee received The Queens Award for Voluntary Service (the equivalent of an MBE for charities). This year our nominated charities are the Royal Papworth Charity and East Anglian Air Ambulance.

We’d like to welcome Scotty Circus Workshops and Kids Drive to the line-up at ‘Family Thriplow’. We will have a new dedicated area named ‘Gun Dogs and Fun Dogs’ to hold the Fun Gun Dog Scurry and Straw Bale Runs. The Cricket Pitch marquee will now be called Boundaries with garden centre style stalls and a café with live folk music playing. Please note, to accommodate our early birds, we’re opening an hour earlier at 10am on both days this year.

This year we are supporting the brilliant Royal Papworth Charity who are raising money for the Heart and Lung Institute.

We are also raising funds for East Anglian Air Ambulance (EAAA) who operate two emergency response helicopters in East Anglia and are a vital asset to the safety of all of us.
